MONTECITO, CA (March 23, 2018) – All the checks from Ellen’s DeGeneres’s GoFundMe Montecito Disaster Relief Fund were distributed this week to local non-profit organizations involved with Montecito and Santa Barbara disaster relief efforts in the wake of the Thomas Fire, the largest wildfire in California history, and the devastating 1/9 Montecito Debris Flow.
Suzanne Perkins, of Sotheby’s International Realty, and Susan Jordan, Executive Director of the California Coastal Protection Network, were instrumental in working with Ellen’s team to organize all the local charities that helped in local relief efforts. The non-profit organizations were thrilled and honored to receive the funds distributed from Ellen’s GoFundMe charity.
Suzanne said, “It’s so unusual to find someone so giving and responsive to the needs of the community that she’s living in. Ellen is amazing!”
According to her GoFundMe page, “Ellen DeGeneres wants to help the people and animals of Montecito. The area has been devastated by record-breaking fires, and then a mudslide that wiped out nearly everything in its path. While the town rebuilds, Ellen and her friends want to support the thousands of people and animals affected by this disaster. They need our help.”
The money raised on Ellen’s GoFundMe site was sent to the Direct Impact Fund, a non-profit organization, and the funds were dispersed in various amounts to the following charities below:
