MONTECITO, CA, Feb. 5, 2018 — Suzanne Perkins of Sotheby’s International Realty would like to thank Montecito and Santa Barbara for their support and business over her 27 years in the industry. Perkins’ total sales in 2017 were $154 million, making her the number one in sales volume for Santa Barbara County.
Her most significant achievement this year was the sale of Rancho Sanja Cota in Santa Ynez Valley for $34,250,000, the highest priced sale in Santa Barbara County since 2008, according to the Santa Barbara MLS as of Dec. 31, 2017.
According to Sotheby’s International Realty President, Kathy Korte, “Sotheby’s International Realty set a new all-time record for closed sales volume in 2017! In fact, our closed volume for the nine months ended Sept. 30, 2017 grew from the same period of the prior year by approximately 15 percent. And in the ultra-high end, our company-owned brokerages dominated the ‘most expensive deals of the year’ rankings from Bloomberg and Elle Décor.”
Tragically, the year ended on a devastating note with back-to-back natural disasters. The Thomas Fire was the largest wildfire in modern California’s history, followed weeks later by the worst natural disaster in Santa Barbara history, the deadly Jan. 9 mudflows killing 21 people, with two still missing, and over 500 homes either damaged or destroyed.
It will take time for our treasured community to recover, and for many who need to rebuild, it will take much longer. It’s important to remember why we’ve chosen to live in this extraordinary community. In response to the devastation, some residents may leave, but most are united by a determined resilience to rebuild their beloved village.
We give so much thanks to our heroic first responders. We are so grateful for the outstanding fellowship of community leaders and volunteers who are tirelessly working on long-term recovery and clean-up efforts. We’re appreciative for all the individuals and organizations laboring to provide compassionate financial relief for individuals, local businesses, and animals severely impacted by the fire and flood. Through cooperative insight, benevolence, patience, support and innovation, our resilient community will heal. #MontecitoStrong
